Boynton Beach, Florida, is a dynamic, culturally diverse coastal community covering 16.5 square miles in the center of Palm Beach County. The City is home to approximately 80,139 residents and is a part of the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach metropolitan area.

The City of Boynton Beach operates under a commission-manager form of government.  A City Manager is hired to manage the organization’s day-to-day operations.  The Boynton Beach Utilities Department is responsible for maintaining water, sewer, stormwater, wastewater, and reclaimed service systems for 112,000 customers in its service area, which is comprised of 37,329 customers within the City limits and the neighboring municipalities of Hypoluxo and Ocean Ridge as well as unincorporated areas of Palm Beach County.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, civil engineering, environmental science, or a closely related field; and within the past 10 years, must have at least seven years of progressively and highly responsible Utilities administration experience, of which at least five years include direct municipal, county, or state managerial experience in water utility administration (including budgeting, procurement, labor/employment, capital projects, and public records management) and oversight of the following areas: water distribution, wastewater, stormwater, water treatment and quality, and utility capital project management. 

Must satisfactorily demonstrate to hiring committee that proficient communications, decision-making, planning, presentation, and leadership skills are evident and that management and organizational culture philosophies are aligned with those desired by the City manager; and must possess (or able to obtain within 14 days of hire) and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

Minimum Qualifications for education and experience must be met before consideration of the following.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, civil engineering, or environmental sciences.

• Certification as a project management professional (PMP).

• Valid registration as a Florida Professional Engineer (PE).

The hiring salary range for this position is $115,250 - $140,000 dependent on qualifications and experience.
